Cancellations:

If you cancel 7 business days or more in advance, you will receive a full refund, less a $20.00 service charge. If you cancel within 6 business days, you are not entitled to a cash refund. However, as a courtesy, we will allow you to apply your payment toward a future training of the same type conducted within one year from the date you cancel. Advancing Beyond Compliance, the ABC’s of EMS™

Module I, Parts 1 & 2: Virginia Environmental Enterprise (E2) Certification 2-Day Workshop

This course enables you to take a step-by-step approach to completing EMS requirements. Develop prototypes of the actual forms needed to finalize your EMS submission to DEQ

Why You Should Attend:

An Environmental Management System (EMS) provides tools to help manage both your organization’s compliance and environmental impacts efficiently and effectively, to improve environmental consciousness across the entire organization, to reduce waste and save money, to address homeland defense and security issues, and to advance your overall business processes and procedures. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is working on requirements to necessitate the inclusion of Environmental Liabilities as part of the balance sheet of organizations. In addition, organizations may have a responsibility to report to stockholders for an accounting of the environmental liabilities and practices. An EMS allows continual improvement in your organization to address current regulations, as well as Advancing Beyond Compliance, reducing waste and saving money.

Advancing Beyond Compliance, the ABC’s of EMS™ - EMS workshop on achieving the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality’s (VADEQ) Environmental Enterprise (E2) certification.  This two day program will take participants through a step-by-step process to complete the elements of the VADEQ E2 level program.

Successful completion of the program will:

  • Participants will receive information on Virginia’s E2, E3, and E4 programs, the U.S. EPA Performance Track Program, and new Sustainability Initiatives;
  • Complete the forms necessary for an E2 application for VADEQ certification;

US Department of Transportation (Beginner / Refresher)

Certification Requirements: Training required initially and then every three years for persons responsible for the safe shipment of hazardous materials

Prerequisite: None

Why You Should Attend:

The U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulates the shipment, by any mode, of hazardous materials (including hazardous waste) in commerce.  The regulations prescribe the shipping name, hazard classification, hazardous material identification number, packaging, labeling, marking, shipping papers, and emergency response relating to local and interstate transportation of hazardous materials.      Each attendee receives a copy of the regulations (49 CFR Parts 100-189), a copy of the North American Emergency Response Guide (ERG), and copies of exercises and other handouts used in the class.  A test will be given at the end of the class with correct answers discussed.  Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. 

Who Should Attend:

Anyone responsible for arranging for shipment of hazardous materials, marking, labeling, packaging, loading/unloading, completing shipping papers, and/or moving DOT hazardous materials in a warehouse or who supervises these functions is required to have this training.

Learning Outcomes / Highlights: Participants will receive a training certificate that fulfills DOT requirements,  a copy of DOT Regulations – 49 CFR Parts 100-189, and a copy of the North American Emergency Response Guide (ERG)

IMDG Course Overview  (Beginner / Refresher)

 

Certification Requirements: Training required initially and then every three years for persons responsible for the safe shipment of hazardous materials via marine vessel

Prerequisite: DOT Training

 

Why You Should Attend:

The US Dept of Transportation (DOT) regulates the shipment, by any mode, of hazardous materials (including hazardous waste) in commerce.  When these materials are being shipped by vessel in water, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations, the International Maritime of Dangerous Goods (IMDG), are the regulations governing this activity.   The regulations prescribe the shipping name, hazard classification, hazardous material identification number, packaging, labeling, marking, shipping papers, and emergency response relating to local and interstate transportation of hazardous materials.  Each attendee receives a copy of the regulations (2 volume set of IMDG) and copies of exercises and other handouts used in the class.  A test will be given at the end of the class with correct answers discussed.  Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.

Who Should Attend:

Anyone responsible for arranging for shipment of hazardous materials, marking, labeling, packaging, loading/unloading, completing shipping papers, and/or moving DOT/IMDG hazardous materials in a warehouse or who supervises these functions of shipments transported by vessel in water is required to have this training.

Learning Outcomes / Highlights: Participants will receive a training certificate that fulfills IMDG requirements and a two-volume set of IMDG regulations, as well as the IMDG supplement guide.

Why You Should Attend:

Department of Transportation (DOT) regulates the shipment, by any mode, of hazardous materials (including hazardous waste) in commerce.  When these materials are being shipped by air, Dangerous Goods by Air Regulations are used based on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Technical Instructions.   The regulations prescribe the shipping name, hazard classification, hazardous material identification number, packaging, labeling, marking, shipping papers, and emergency response relating to local and interstate transportation of hazardous materials.   Each attendee receives a copy of the applicable Dangerous Goods by Air regulations and copies of exercises and other handouts used in the class.  A test will be given at the end of the class with correct answers discussed.  Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. 

Who Should Attend:

Anyone responsible for arranging for shipment of hazardous materials, marking, labeling, packaging, loading/unloading, completing shipping papers, and/or moving DOT/Dangerous Goods by Air hazardous materials in a warehouse or who supervises these functions of shipments transported by air is required to have this training.

Basic EMS Internal Auditor Awareness Training for Organizations

Ensuring the Development and Implementation of a Successful Environmental Management System (EMS) Necessitates an Understanding of the Internal Auditing Process of your EMS Program

Why You Need to Attend:

In order to achieve E3 and E4 status that entitles your organization to receive benefits such as reduced permit fees and/or reduced inspection priority, and the ability to implement alternative compliance measures – as detailed in the Virginia Environmental Excellence Program (VEEP), your organization should implement the critical component of conducting Internal Performance Audits to measure the performance and success of the EMS put in place.  According to the VEEP, Section 10.1-1187.3, “To apply to become an E3 facility, an applicant shall submit the following information to the Department: (g) Voluntary self-assessments; In order to participate as an E4 facility, a person or facility shall meet the criteria for participation as an E3 facility, and shall have (i) implemented and completed at least one full cycle of an environmental management system as verified by an unrelated third-party qualified to audit environmental management systems…” In order to successfully comply with these measurements, monitor the performance of your EMS, and to demonstrate your organization’s commitment to the Environmental Management program, an individual(s) at your organization will need to be trained in understanding the audit process.
